Blue Pearl

My taste in music has always been eclectic, as evidenced by this “Radio Me” post. That list showed artists ranging from Edith Piaf to Elvis Costello to Hoobastank to Frank Sinatra. But two albums always place in my top ten: Pearl (more info here) by Janis Joplin and ”Blue” (more info here) by Joni Mitchell.

If I am in good spirits I am likely to sing in the shower - with or without an iPod for accompaniment. Usually, some one of the songs off either of those two albums will make it into that day’s medley. “Pearl” was released in 1971, as was “Blue”. I was about 13 years old. I don’t remember being between 12 and 14 as particularly stellar years for me (she shudders). Yet for about 38 years (Anyone have some smelling salts?) Janis and Joni have contributed to the ongoing soundtrack of my life. A pretty high quality soundtrack, if I do say so myself.

What’s on your soundtrack?

I have a rather full soundtrack since I listen to almost everything.
Pearl and Blue are in my mix as well. :) Heart often shows up on several of my playlists.

I also love singing in the shower! Although, most of the time, it's with Jake and we're singing nursery rhymes. Or Mamma Mia...

I love all music, except rap and techno-rubbish. My dad has always loved his music and we grew up with everything from The Beatles, BeeGees, Rolling Stones to Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. These days pretty much anything goes, he likes our music as much as we all enjoy his!!

At the moment though, I have to say that Pearl Jam are on the top of my list and I will always have a soft spot for U2.

Great post! I was not really exposed to Janis and Joni much, but I will try and give it a listen. I have heard a few numbers which sound like my kind of thing.

As for me, I also have a vary varied and sometimes whacky tast in music. Ultimate album of all time for me is The Bends by Radiohead. I also love (old) U2 and Counting Crows as well as many many others. I think it depends on the mood. I also love all the chilled out sounds like John Mayer and the boys.

WVG = crausli!

As you can see I am playing catch up again. I love old music. I have this cd compilation called music to watch girls by and Lily sings along to downtown, sway and all the greats from the 50's and 60's. I loved Wham as a young teenager and still love goerge micheal as well as crowded house , radiohead , u2.
lately I am loving Franz Ferdinand . I think its called " go you girls"
So basically i am all over the place.
also..how do you listen to your ipod in the shower ;)
