We are once again getting power from the grid!!!
I’m not exactly sure when it happened because we were away from the house at the time, but we’re guessing it was about 3:00 p.m. That’s six and a half days or 157 hours. Of which, we ran the generator for just 50.8 hours. It was the perfect amount of time to keep the house comfortable, the refrigerator cold and the water pumping up from the well as needed. But it is an enormous relief to have electricity flowing silently to our home and available with just the flip of a switch.

So pleased to hear that all is well again. You must be so relieved!! We get grumpy when we're without power for more then 12 hours... 157!! That's unbelievable. I hope that's the worst of your winter storms over now!!

Yeah - go flick on all the switches, go on, you know you want to! ;o)
I once tried to explain to a friend about the general stikes in the UK in the late 60's, and he could not comrehend that whoe cities had power outages for hours at a time, and the idea that we toasted bread over a gas fire in the dining room ... hey ho! It's more incentive to look at alternatives. Do you get grants for things like heat source pumps, domestic turbines etc?
woo hoooooo!!!!!

YAY - just in time for merry whatsits!

Hi Sue -
Thank you!
Well, I hope this power outage is the last for the winter as well. But they are now predicting 12 inches of heavy snow for our area today! Then another storm by the end of the weekend!
Yikes!

Hi Roo -
We actually had to flick a few switches to make sure we had all the circuits back up and running. Yes it was fun!
There are some rebates available, but we have yet to find one that would allow making the switch affordable. Hopefully more opportunities will be coming along soon.
Thanks!
