Take A Deep Breath

As an adult, I’ve come to feel two ways about Christmas. On the one hand, I get caught up in all the excitement: the planning, the cooking and making and wrapping the presents. On the other hand, a part of me holds back. I don’t like feeling manipulated by the retail juggernaut to buy, buy, buy! The closer we get to Christmas Day, the greater the tug of war between the two becomes. At some point, I have to mentally hold my hands up and tell both sides to shut up. What’s done is good enough. It’s time to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the holiday with Chuck and the rest of my family. At the end of the day, at the end of the holiday, they’re all that really matters.

Something that always makes me smile during the craziness of shopping is calling into the automated banking line to "check my balance."

Nothing funnier than hearing that monotone computer voice say this morning: "You..have..one dollar and 17 cents..in your checking account."

I love it! Its the holidays, you can't take it with you right lol!

We really cut back this year, starting with a good nice tree and not too much decoration, and finally, after many years trying to get people to think about it, we bunch of friends decided that this year we will all get each other token gifts, a tree decoration.

It makes lovely sense, as we all have far far too much, and the beauty of this idea is that each year you have a reminder of the years past and your friends.

Here's hoping you and Chuck have a fabulous day, x
