Echoes

During most of the year, when the ground is free of snow, unless we are lucky enough to see a visitor, it’s hard to know who’s living with us on our land. But when the snow has blanketed the front lawn, we can see that it’s a bit like the intersection of the Mass Pike and Route 128 - only very, very quiet.

Could this be where a cottontail stopped briefly?

  1. I wished I paid closer attention to what animals feet looked like back in Animal Biology. :)

  2. Hi Roo -
    Ha! Brilliant! LOL!!!

    Hi DMM -
So sorry - I didn't give you any sense of perspective in that photo. We do have Black Bears here in the area. But my hand, with fingers outstretched, would cover that set of tracks. I do like the idea of very tiny bears scampering about though!
    ;o)

    Hi Irene -
    Me too!
I Googled different tracks for animals common to the area and I'm still leaning toward the cottontail bunny, at rest. We've definitely seen the "bunny on the move" tracks - and scat too!
    ;o)
